Summer Season 2022

In PLWs very first season the small promotion managed to gather a great roster, with particular highlights on the roster being Ernest Youngman, Logan Wolfsbaine, Guerrero Muerto, Going Coastal (Frankie-Boy Fernandez and California Love Machine) and Express Delivery (Frankie Perez and Remmy Skye.

In the pre season Battle Royal it was an indication of more to come from Emma May as she laid down a marker for the rest of the season, for the men it was tag team wrestler Frankie Fernandez taking the early season glory.

The Cup competition proved to be competitive but had Emma May showing absolute dominance beating the best of the womens division in Higgins, Pinky Perez, Danielle Sweetheart and Coco Malloy to take victory and add to her pre-season win.

In a strange turn of events it was the mens per-season winner Frankie Fernandez also adding to his cup collection. The final producing an undisputed banger gaining an 82 rated match

The cup final proved to be the match of the season and both men took away the match of the season medals.

The Men1 league ended with Honeyman dominating and Youngman scraping through to the league final. Guerrero Muerto started the league with 5 matches undefeated before losing the Honeyman and not picking up a win after that. in a season to forget, Svensson, an early season favourite had a season to forget and only narrowly beat young rookie Zippy in the rankings. Four men ended equal on points showing how close the league was, Findlay will likely feel that had he focused on the league and not gone on tour with BCG the season may have finished differently.

Men2 saw Huracan have a clean sweep of victories, impressively winning all 9 matches. Logan Wolfsbaine came into the season with huge expectations but failed to ever get going. Al Coleman had a fantastic season only losing to to Huracan and Logan.

At the League Finale, the top rated 4 men faced off in an elimination match to be crowned the very first PLW champion. Winning once again, Huracan Sandoval topped off a brilliant season by taking home the trophy.

Winner: Huracan Sandoval

In the Womens1 league it was a loaded league with Sweetheart, Perez, Brazzle and Higgins all coming into the season with high hopes. It proved to be only Higgins missing out on the final as Perez and Brazzle ended joint 2nd, making the 1st ever Womens league final a 5 way affair. Sweetheart showed dominance all season and finished unbeaten on top.

In Women2 Emma May followed up her pre-season Battle Royale and cup wins with an undefeated season. Cup finalist Coco Malloy had less luck in the league, and despite putting on some of the best matches all season long, Fuyuko Higa struggled to get wins.

You would be forgiven for thinking that Emma May would likely complete a clean sweep of trophies, but it was Danielle Sweetheart that took the league trophy and stealing the glory.

Winner: Danielle Sweetheart

Tag1 had little in the way of surprises with Going Coastal beating all those in front of them. Express Delivery will likely look to next season for success given Frankie Perez spent most the season injured and Remmy Skye was required to tag with special guests in order to fufill their fixtures. The Ivanoff Brothers were expected to be tough competition to beat but became the league whipping boys in a real shock to the league.

Tag2 saw fan favourites LA Stars and The Night Terrors finish bottom in a real shock. The Gilbert Bros, who were early season favourites to lose all 9 matches had a solid showing. American Flash and American Patriot had a great debut season as a tag team, and Flash built on his cup success to make the finals. Dark Pact were the shock of the bunch, Aldous Blackfriar carrying his partner Original Sinner to a fantastic finish and a place in the final.

The tag final saw 4 very different team face off, but once again there were no surprised, with Frankie Fernandez already having the pre-season trophy, and the mens cup under his belt, him and his partner were happy to secure the tag league trophy and give Frankie a debut season to remember. To top it off Frankie also claimed the match of the season award for his semi final match with Remmy Honeyman.

Winners: Going Coastal

Next season: going into next season the league is happy to announce that the signing of Lassana Makutsi has been secured and will be joining the mens league. Blackfriar annoyed at losing the final has dropped partner Original Sinner and has agreed to team with Macastro member Astro in the tag league next season, forming the team Dark Star. We say goodbye to Original Sinner and Macastro, leaving a space in the mens league that has been taken by indy favourite Chess Maniac.
